Prattville Elementary School Tech Trot

What a great way to start our Saturday morning... the school put on a fundraiser 5K/1 mile Fun Run to generate funds to purchase more SmartBoards for the classrooms. So... we signed up as a family... it was a great event that was very well organized. I competed in the 5K and actually finished 3rd in my Age Group (24:41) and won a Prattville School Cookbook put together by parents and students. After that race there was 1 mile Family Fun Run... Colby wanted to win the race so he took off at the gun... turns out he ran an 8:47.02 and finished 3rd overall behind two teenagers and obviously 1st in his Age Group. Cassidy and Maddison ran together and finished about a minute behind Colby... then Sherri finished strong with Sydney and I coming in just behind her... Syd had a bad cramp that caused us to run a bit slower than the others but in the end we all finished and I could not be any more proud of our accomplishments... all the while generating some much needed funds to improve the school...

Next on the agenda for the day is a 7:05 pm start time to watch the Montgomery Biscuits play baseball... The team is the Class AA affiliate of the Tamp Bay Rays and plays in the Southern League. The 2004 season was the team's first in Montgomery. The Biscuits play in the Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, which has a capacity of 7,000. Tonight's promotion is Auburn vs. Alabama and they have asked everyone to wear their Auburn orange or Bama crimson... both school mascots are going to be there and we are all very excited!

WHAT A GREAT DAY!

My initial thoughts...

Well... I consider myself a computer nut yet this is my first attempt at blogging... I am your typical Type A personality (ESTJ), have a loving wife and 4 children, cannot sit still, start more projects than I actually ever finish, have 100's of hobbies (suck at most of them), have been blessed with an amazing network of family and friends and intend to share my experiences as my life unfolds... much like the best rides in amusement park... the wait may be long but the thrill of the ride is well worth it in the end and the stories afterwards are ALWAYS better than you remember.. so let's get started!
